"Overflowing money bags. Screaming chainsaws. Unhinged bankers. And Heroic nature protectors. That was our opening act of the Climate March in Amsterdam in a nutshell." - Greenpeace International
Studio Birthplace's Sil van der Woerd was one of the 15,000 people that joined the climate march that took place in the financial heart of Amsterdam on May 31st, 2024.
Greenpeace opened the Climate March with a demonstration of 'MoneyTrees', featuring a large prop tree with volunteers dressed reminiscent of the bankers you see in the original video.
The climate march was held ahead of the European Elections on June 6.
Participants demanded that banks such as Rabobank, ING and ABN Amro change their course and stop investing their money in deforestation, mining or pollution.
